Bruno Cho writes and edits it. He is based in Dubai and builds businesses across the UAE. Al Ain Today is his attempt to report one city's economy properly, with the numbers attached.
Al Ain's business news arrives late, filtered through Abu Dhabi, or not at all. If you are deciding whether to open something there, or already run something there, the basic facts are hard to assemble — and the public data that would answer your question is published in pieces, sector by sector, with no comparison against anywhere else.
So we assemble it. The sector comparison is the clearest example: nineteen sectors in Al Ain set against Abu Dhabi, which is a calculation nobody had published.
Every figure names where it came from and the date it was checked. You will see the source and an as-of date beside the number itself, not buried in a footnote.
When a dataset has stopped being updated, we say so on the page rather than presenting an old count as a current one. Our main licence dataset is a 2021 snapshot, and every page that uses it says that.
We do not rate, rank or recommend companies, and we do not take payment to feature anyone. Nothing here is investment, legal or immigration advice — for those, talk to someone licensed to give it.
We also do not publish a figure we cannot trace to a source. If we could not verify it, it does not go in.
Al Ain Today is an edition of UAE Today, a small publishing project covering the United Arab Emirates. Al Ain is the first edition. Abu Dhabi follows.
Email hello@alaintoday.org. If we got something wrong we fix it on the page and note the date it changed — we do not quietly edit and move on.
There is a weekly email on the home page, and an RSS feed if you prefer that. Everything we publish goes to both.
